YOUNG cagers will be vying for court supremacy at the Spalding 3-on-3 Basketball Challenge this Sunday.

For what is the biggest gathering of youth teams in the Klang Valley.

An estimated 300 teams will take part in the competition that was formerly known as the AND1 3-on-3 Basketball Challenge which has moved in line with developing the sport further.

According to the organisers W.O.S. World of Sports (M) Sdn Bhd, the reason for the change was to shift the focus to younger players with the abolishment of categories for players aged 18 years and above.

Organising chairman Saw See Leong said preparations to host the 300 teams at Berjaya Times Square in Kuala Lumpur have been going smoothly.

“We have been organising these tournaments for 12 years now so we have become quite familiar with handling the crowd,” Saw said

“This year we are more focused on growing the sport among the youth and we are happy that despite the lack of older players.

We have managed to get the same number of teams made up of younger players,” he added.
