Just had a great time at the Double Tree Hilton in JB, it was fathers day treat and boy was it good.
I really like this hotel the staff are always on hand and nothing is to much trouble. and of course the smile – who does not like to be smiled at and here the staff are good at it. from the arrival to leaving i have only good things to day about the staff in this hotel.
To be fair I don’t like to single out individuals because I feel a hotel is run by lots of staff in the background that work hard to make your stay a one to remember. and I also would hate it if i missed out anyone so for me I prefer to just say that the staff were as always great.
My Compliments to Mr S McGrath on having a wonderful team behind him that do a really great job.
Ok so Now onto the hotel – Its part of the Hilton group and the standards are really good. I like to try everything when i visit hotels that way i get a good idea how the hotel performs.
Arrival – The first thing is security – when you arrive by car and proceed to park the car you are stopped and inquiries made by a nice young as to reason for parking. such as checking in /out visiting for meal etc, the point is they keep good control of who is entering and leaving the car park. also the car park is very well lit and patrolled. so I felt quite safe.
Reception – On arrival I went to the check in desk for HH Guests and was immediately seen to by a really nice young lady who quickly check me in and with in a few mins i was off up to my room. But not before getting the Famous Cookies warm from the oven.
The room was very well appointed and clean it was an apartment Suite that had kitchen lounge area and separate bedroom with walk in closet and shower spa, separate toilet (although joined to walk-in closet) It had all you could want in terms of equipment and it even had a washing machine/dryer behind the door so really not at all intrusive to the bathroom area. I also love the mirrors with built in lights and the small flexible magnified mirror with circle of lights around it that show every detail of your face (scary at times lol)
The lounge had a swivel chair and a three seater and one seater sofas, a big 40inch tv and a Table to have meals at.
The Bedroom had king size double bed also with big tv on the wall facing it. dock for the ipod also wall sockets for everything usb hdmi that conect to the tv. this is great because i take me hdmi tv dongle with me so i can mirror my iphone and watched the live football from astro it was great…
so it scored top marks I had room service and the meal was so good that I cleaned the plate plus delivery was prompt and delivered by a nice young man that laid everything out for me on the table just like having my own butler.(again he had a big smile that made me feel good)
GYM/POOL/STEAM AND JACUZZI –
This was my favorite part of the hotel. the gym is 24 hrs so i can get workout when i want. the pool was so inviting but so cold at first I like the rocking loungers
in the water you can relax and keep cool at the same time.
then its into the jacuzzi nice and warm and lots of powerful bubbles I then went into the steam room it was nice and hot then to shower then back 2 times – then it was shower time and hair dry time – Towels were plentiful and thick and fluffy spa like experience.
The Exec Lounge – staff are the first to great you on arrival into the lounge and make you feel special. Nothing is to much trouble for the staff here. here i had afternoon tea (coffee in my case), later it was back for evening cocktails and snacks. i had some nice red wine with the food and followed with some cool beers, all the time the chefs were continually stocking up the food counters.it was very busy being fathers day but the staff never got flustered and kept the room flowing – I met some really nice people their all enjoying the food and wine.
Then it was bed time and one thing i love about hilton is their beds. always i have great sleep in their hotels, everything from the mattress to the crisp white sheets and duvet covers just works and you can also choose from a pillow menu.
So after a great nights sleep its down for breakfast in Tosca restaurant – I had sunny side up eggs cooked to perfection added some hash browns beans and bacon then had fresh brewed coffee, followed this with selection of fruits and I even sneaked a danish pastry to help finish my second cup of coffee.
Then it was off to the gym and swim work off all the calories i put on last night. I have to say I love this hotel and will be back often….
A final thanks to Simon McGrath and his team for an exceptional stay at Double Tree Hilton JB...
