JOHOR BARU: Coffee lovers can now get a taste of the newly-launched coffee product by the Institut of Bioproduct Development (IBD), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) here.
UTM Research and Innovation deputy vice-chancellor Prof Dr Ahmad Fauzi Ismail said the coffee called Scholar’s Coffee was a blend of Arabica and Robusta grind.
“Due to the sweetness of the coffee beans, consumers do not need to add more sugar to their drinks.
“The Robusta beans, found in the country, is ideal for instant coffee drinks,” he said.
“Our team started the project and research since earlier this year and found the drink has high antioxidants, minerals and low acid, among others,” he said.
Prof Dr Ahmad Fauzi added that the coffee would be the 31st product that has been introduced by IBD.
“The product is already on sale at certain outlets such as the airport.
“Consumers can also get the product through IBD’s official dealers,” he said during a press conference after officiating the launch of the product at the Wellness Carnival held at UTM Skudai campus recently.
